1. What is Stack Overflow Jobs?
Stack Overflow Jobs is a job site crafted in partnership with Indeed, a leading global hiring platform, as an experiment to put thousands of highly-relevant jobs to the fingertips of developers and technologists.
It can be found at stackoverflow.jobs(https://stackoverflow.jobs/), and is linked in the left navigation on Stack Overflow and technical Stack Exchange sites. For now Stack Overflow Jobs only includes jobs in the United States, but we hope to expand to more markets to serve more technical job seekers around the world in the future.
2. How is this different from the old Stack Overflow Jobs?
The new version of Stack Overflow Jobs, launched in May 2024, is unique because it is crafted in partnership with Indeed. While the first iteration of SO Jobs was deprecated because the business model was not sustainable for Stack, we believe that by partnering with Indeed we have found a solution that allows us to provide a best-in-class job site experience while continuing to focus on our strength – the developer community.
We are considering this launch an MVP (minimum viable product) intended to test the potential of this new job site. We see this as just the beginning, with hopes of proving out this partnership model to expand in both product features and functionally, as well as more markets outside the US.
3. What kind of jobs are listed?
Stack Overflow and Indeed have clearly defined criteria based on job category and title to ensure that listings are relevant to a technical audience. Only open developer and technologist roles are pulled in from Indeed to Stack Overflow Jobs. You’ll find roles like full-stack, front-end, and back-end developers, site reliability engineers, and data scientists, as well as other technical roles like product managers, scrum leaders, QA testers, and more.
Some job listings will be sponsored jobs coming from employer’s opted-in to Indeed’s Tech Network. Other listings will simply be technology positions with job titles that match our list, which may come from a wide variety of employers.
4. How do I apply for a job?
The job site will showcase thousands of technical job listings in the US. Use keyword searches to find jobs that are a great fit for your interests and experience. To look for remote jobs type “remote” into the keyword search field, not the location search field. In order to apply for a job, hit the “apply” button and you will be redirected to the posting on Indeed, where you can submit your application.
5. How do I report a job?
Information on how to report a problem with a job listing can be found in this help article.
6. How can I list a job opening?
To list open tech roles on Stack Overflow Jobs employers need to post a job through Indeed’s Tech Network.
7. Is Stack Overflow sharing my data with Indeed?
No personal data about users is shared between Stack Overflow and Indeed.
8. Is Dev Story coming back?
Developer Story is not included in this initial experiment in bringing back a version of Stack Overflow Jobs. However, we know how well loved that feature was, and it is something we will consider reviving in future iterations of Stack Overflow Jobs.
